I was recently reminded of an event that occurred while I was living in Lake Tahoe. Someone once said to me that it can snow in every month of the year in Lake Tahoe. That was made evident one particular July Fourth. I was on my way to work and had just parked my car in the employees parking lot of one of the large casinos. It was a cold day out and the wind was blowing. I was walking with my then girlfriend and we met another co-worker also on his way to work. The clouds had just started to sprinkle the area again with some light snow. This was a continuance of the light snow that had been dropping all day. We noticed a little squirrel scammering around the parking lot between the cars. He would find a small pine cone and quickly scurry towards a tree. He looked nervous. Which may have been my own interpretation of his situation. Here it was July. The last snows just melted three months ago and now it was snowing again. What this squirrel must have thought at this new snow fall. I pictured him as nervously thinking that winter had arrived and he wasn't ready. I saw the panic in his face as he looked for food. I got a little chuckle out of this. I wanted to tell him to relax. That he had plenty of time. But he was too busy and probably wouldn't have listened to me anyway. I went to work.
David.

Merry Christmas Dave
Thank you for dropping by my site. (I am more prominant at xanga.com/lifeisjoy)I blog when I can, yet I only check my eblogger once a week. Sorry about not dropping by...You've left more than one comment for me, and I feel convicted to get back to you. I could say that during this part of the Christmas season, my life is beyond busy...but I consider that busy is a four-letter word (yes, pun very much intended)and refuse to use it as an excuse.
Yet, in explaining that, the ministry with The Salvation Army is deeply involved with poorer section of our community and our food and toy distribution is this Wednesday. I'm not in a panic, but I can identify with your little squirrel - the scurrying many places, the many places needed to be and then the others places that are waiting in line.
It is at those times I find myself cynically reaching for the Bible verse, "And it came to pass..." It won't be this way forever, it will definitely pass, and the 900 families who are turning to us to help supplement their Christmas will be met with Christmas joy and grace.
I encourage you in your faith during this amazing season of preparation, revolving around the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. The most amazing statement of the Christian faith is found with the nativity narrative of Matthew 1, the prophesied word from God, "...and His name will be Emmanuel, which means 'God with us.'"
God is with us - we are not alone or abandoned. God is with us - celebrating our joys, helping carry our burdens. Emmanuel - God is with us!
Embrace and enjoy your day. I'm gonna do my best to stay on top of your posts and follow your thoughts. Have a great one today!
